Barrel Blank BestPatron Special
Hardy Barrels (New Zealand)
Hardy Barrels (New Zealand)

- Hardy Engineering manufactures barrels of the highest quality that can boldly compete with Krieger or Bartlein.
- Some of the world's top competitive shooters are re-barreling their precision rifles with these barrels. One reason is the partial decline in Krieger's manufacturing quality, as due to demand they have shifted to mass production... and that naturally has its consequences.
- Even so, delivery from Krieger is 12–14 months... Hardy delivered our first barrels within a month.
- Additional advantages:
- The barrels are already contoured according to specifications we consulted with the best snipers in the Czech Republic, and we had the barrels manufactured in the "BestPatron Special" contour. Now all that's needed is to cut to your desired length, chamber it, and crown it.
- Compared to US barrels: fewer issues, faster delivery, more reasonable price.
The English team won the European Championship in 2016 with these barrels.
This is a "barrel blank" — it has no chambering, so it is NOT
the main component of a firearm and is therefore available for free sale.
- The barrel blank is made from 416R stainless steel
- The bore is produced by precision button-pulling machines
- Internal material stress is relieved in a computer-controlled oven under a protective atmosphere
- Every finished barrel blank is professionally hand-lapped (with a mandrel)
BestPatron's personal opinion:
- These barrels were recommended to us by top-level shooters whom we trust.
- This company's conduct is very professional, accommodating, and prompt. (The opposite of Krieger, in other words.)
- Over the past three years we have sold a considerable number of them and have very good references.
- A distinctive feature of these barrels is that their bore tends to be a few hundredths of a millimeter on the looser side (±1–2).
- This has a beneficial effect on the accuracy of the firearm (and as is always the case, you have to pay for something — in this case it is barrel life, which drops by approximately 5%, depending on the caliber).
- Although these barrels with a looser bore are sometimes rejected by gunsmiths under the assumption that it is a manufacturing defect, here it is intentional and with a very targeted effect on accuracy.
- PS: There are strategies for producing a bore "exactly to spec", then there are barrels made under-sized, and also the strategy of making them looser than the specified dimension (over-sized). Each of these strategies has its pros and cons. But all of them work when manufactured with quality.
- We have had nothing but the best experience with Hardy barrel blanks, so there is really no need to be afraid of them
(even though there are those who will try hard to talk you out of them...)
