Step-by-step cleaning procedure:
We recommend using a Bore Guide to ensure precise application of the chemicals and to protect the bore during cleaning.
Step 1: Penetrate the bore with ThorroFlush
- Start by running a patch saturated with ThorroFlush through the bore to remove any loose carbon fouling. A jag will also suffice for this step. This prepares the barrel for further cleaning.
Step 2: Apply ThorroClean
To a quality nylon brush. Apply a sufficient amount of ThorroClean (approximately one teaspoon). Run the brush back and forth through the barrel approximately 10 to 15 times. Make sure there is enough ThorroClean on the brush. This step effectively breaks down copper and carbon deposits, as it evenly coats the barrel with the chemical while the specially chemical-resistant brush removes layers of already loosened fouling.
Step 3: Final cleaning with ThorroFlush
- Push a dry patch through the barrel to remove excess ThorroClean.
- Push patches generously soaked in ThorroFlush through the barrel to flush out all remaining ThorroClean residue. This typically takes 2 to 3 patches. Carefully check that no ThorroClean residue remains in the Bore Guide, and use a borescope for a thorough inspection of the bore. ThorroFlush ensures that all chemical residue is completely removed and your bore is in perfect condition.
