The JP Enterprises GEN2 tungsten weight is designed as a replacement or supplementary mass element for the JP Silent Captured Spring (SCS2) and JP Variable Mass Operating System (VMOS) systems. It serves to increase the reciprocating mass of the bolt carrier system, helping to stabilize the weapon's cycling, reduce bolt bounce, and improve cycle reliability — especially in tuned AR platforms.

Thanks to the use of tungsten, the weight has a significantly higher density than standard steel components, making it possible to achieve a higher reciprocating mass without having to fundamentally change the system configuration. This is particularly useful when tuning the gas system or addressing bolt bounce. JP designed it as an upgrade for Gen 2 SCS systems, where individual weights can be combined to achieve the desired cycling characteristics.
